It’s difficult to take a bad photograph in Turks and Caicos. Between the white-sand beaches, bright blue water and beautiful resorts, you’ll probably have your camera out before you’ve even unpacked.
But some places deserve a little extra space on your camera roll.
There’s the famous stretch of Grace Bay, a shipwreck sitting out in the Caicos Banks and a lagoon so blue it hardly looks real. Venture beyond Providenciales and you’ll find dramatic cliffs and coastal scenery that look completely different from the beaches you’ve been photographing all week. Whether you’re looking for a beautiful backdrop, planning a couples’ photo shoot or simply want to remember your vacation, these are seven of the most Instagrammable spots in Turks and Caicos.
GRACE BAY BEACH
It comes as no surprise that one of the most Instagrammable spots on the Island is the world renowned, Grace Bay Beach. This long stretch of beach is by far the most popular and scenic beach in Providenciales and has continuously won awards over the years such as ‘World’s Leading Beach Destination’ and Trip Advisor’s ‘World’s Best Beaches’.
Grace Bay Beach is located on the northeast coast of Providenciales and is the main tourist hub for hotels, shops, and restaurants. Its turquoise waters, white sandy beaches and clear blue skies makes it the best spot on the island for those picture perfect photos. While in the area, you can also stop by the Potcake Place and adopt a puppy for the day! The Potcake Place is a dog rescue charity and adoption center based in the Turks & Caicos. Taking them out on walks and to the beach is completely free and they are sure to steal your heart. There’s nothing like playing with adorable puppies on beautiful Grace Bay Beach!
ROCK HOUSE
Next on my list is the beautiful Rock House Resort. The Rock House Resort is located near the highest point of Providenciales, overlooking the gorgeous waters on the north shore of the Island. Many of the resort’s rock wall features and architecture are inspired by villas in the south of France, Capri and the Mediterranean coast. This is my favourite place for sunset drinks and photos with friends or that special someone.
At night, the pier is lined with lights and lanterns to add to the picturesque vibe. During the day, the infinity pool sits 50 feet above sea level and blends right in with the colours of the ocean, making it another amazing Instagrammable location. Overall, this resort is filled with gorgeous views and backdrops that will have you taking photos all day long.
LA FAMILLE EXPRESS AKA THE LONG BAY SHIP WRECK
If there’s one must-have photo you need from your trip to Turks and Caicos, it’s at the famous La Famille Express Shipwreck. This abandoned shipwreck is arguably the most popular landmark in the Turks and Caicos and for a good reason. It is located in the middle of the ocean, about 2 miles off the shoreline of Long Bay Beach and is only accessible by boat or jet ski; one of my favourite tour operators offering excursions to the shipwreck is Mako Watersports.
The shipwreck is the #1 spot in the TCI for those who are seeking adventure and want some ‘off-the-grid’ Instagrammable photos. If you’re daring enough, you may want a selfie on top of the shipwreck or one as you’re jumping off the Ship. But, most people will want to ride around it and take some photos alongside it. Either way, the experience of seeing it up-close for the first time is something you will never forget!
CREST & BERRY
Crest & Berry, a favoured acai and smoothie shop located in the heart of Grace Bay, is one of the trendiest spots on the island. The shop’s bright and colourful interior and decor is sure to brighten up anyone’s day. Evenbetter, you can bring your Potcake friends along with you! Crest & Berry is pet friendly and they even have a ‘Potcake’ bowl on their menu, made especially for them.
Crest & Berry’s space is relaxing, cozy and perfect on a hot summer’s day when you need toescape the heat and treat yourself to a cold and healthy snack. Don’t forget to pose for a photo with your acaibowl under their ‘Acai You Later’ sign before you leave!
SHORE CLUB
Last but certainly not least, The Shore Club. This romantic and charming beachfront resort on Long Bay Beach is an Instagramer’s dream and is filled with the most aesthetic spots for the best vacation photos. The resort features stunning views of the vibrant turquoise waters from just about any angle. Some of my favourite spots on the property include the swinging chairs by the poolside rope bar, the yoga pavilion and the beach side pools that overlook Long Bay Beach.
Just about every inch of this place is gorgeous and lush. If you’re looking for somewhere secluded and uniquely different, you’ll be pleased to experience everything the Shore Club has to offer.
Chalk Sound National Park
Chalk Sound is one of those places where you’ll probably take a photograph, look at it and then take another because you’re convinced the colors can’t possibly be right.
The national park is home to a spectacular turquoise lagoon dotted with small limestone islands. Its sheltered water and unusual landscape make it one of the most distinctive places to photograph on Providenciales.
The best views are from the roads and designated viewpoints overlooking the lagoon. On a sunny day, the contrast between the blue water, pale limestone and surrounding greenery is particularly striking.
Chalk Sound is also close to Sapodilla Bay and Taylor Bay, so it’s easy to combine all three locations in one outing. You don’t need an elaborate photo shoot here. The landscape does most of the work.
Mudjin Harbour, Middle Caicos
Located on Middle Caicos, this beautiful stretch of coastline is known for its limestone cliffs, sweeping beach and views toward Dragon Cay. It’s a striking contrast to the long, flat beaches around Grace Bay.
From the elevated viewpoints, you can photograph the coastline stretching away beneath you, with the Atlantic Ocean breaking against the cliffs.
Down on the beach, the landscape feels completely different again. Mudjin Harbour is particularly appealing to travelers who enjoy landscape photography, and it’s a good reason to explore another part of the Turks and Caicos Islands.
Reaching Middle Caicos requires more planning than visiting locations around Providenciales. Visitors typically travel to North Caicos by ferry before continuing by road across the causeway to Middle Caicos. Allow plenty of time for the journey and check ferry arrangements before setting off.
The Turks and Caicos Islands is one of the most beautiful vacation destinations in the world.
