Good food always tastes a little better by the sea. In Providenciales, you can test that theory almost every day of your vacation.

Along Grace Bay, tables spill toward one of the Caribbean’s most beautiful beaches, while over in Blue Hills and Five Cays, conch shacks and casual seafood restaurants bring you closer to the local side of the island. There are smart resort restaurants for sunset dinners, easygoing places where arriving in flip-flops is practically expected, and waterfront spots where lunch can quite easily occupy most of the afternoon.

Where to Eat by the Water in Providenciales

Infiniti Restaurant & Raw Bar

There are few bad places to watch the sunset on Grace Bay, but Infiniti has one of the better seats.

Part of Grace Bay Club, the restaurant sits right beside the beach and is considerably more polished than your typical toes-in-the-sand lunch spot. This is somewhere for a proper evening out: cocktails first, seafood and dishes from the raw bar, then dinner as the light disappears over the water.

The setting is romantic without trying too hard, which makes Infiniti an obvious choice for an anniversary, honeymoon dinner, or simply the night you decide to swap flip-flops for something smarter.

Hemingway’s

Hemingway’s is the sort of restaurant every beach destination needs. It’s right on Grace Bay, completely unfussy, and works just as well for breakfast as it does for a late lunch after several hours on the sand.

The menu mixes Caribbean dishes with familiar favorites, which is useful when you’re traveling with children or a group of people who can never agree on where to eat.

Its biggest selling point, though, is simplicity. You don’t have to make an occasion of it. Walk in from the beach, find a table, order something cold and enjoy the view.

Hemingways

Somewhere Café & Lounge

If you’re planning to snorkel at Coral Gardens, remember this name.

Somewhere sits right beside the beach and makes a very convenient post-snorkel stop for tacos, casual food, and a cold drink. Its colorful, laid-back atmosphere feels particularly appropriate after you’ve spent the morning swimming around the reef.

It’s also worth returning later in the day. Grab an upstairs table if you can and watch the sun go down over Grace Bay.

Somewhere isn’t fancy, and that’s rather the point.

The Deck

The Deck at Seven Stars occupies prime Grace Bay real estate, just a few steps from the sand.

It’s an easy choice when you want a good lunch without actually leaving the beach behind. The menu leans toward the sort of food you want in the middle of a hot day—seafood, salads, sandwiches and lighter dishes—with cocktails inevitably entering the picture at some point.

Despite being part of a luxury resort, it doesn’t feel overly formal.

Come straight from the beach, order lunch, and don’t worry too much about what time you leave.

Bay Bistro

Bay Bistro has been part of the Grace Bay dining scene for years, and its location at Sibonné Beach Hotel is difficult to argue with.

Tables sit close to the beach, the atmosphere is relaxed, and the whole place feels smaller and more intimate than many of the restaurants attached to Providenciales’ larger luxury resorts.

It’s good at several different times of day, but dinner around sunset is particularly lovely.

No gimmicks are required here. Grace Bay is right outside.

Bay Bistro – Bay Bistro Restaurant

Da Conch Shack

You shouldn’t leave Providenciales without eating conch at least once. And Da Conch Shack is one of the obvious places to do it.

Head away from Grace Bay to Blue Hills and you’ll find brightly painted tables beside the sea, plenty of conch on the menu, rum drinks, music, and a much more local-feeling setting.

Try conch salad, cracked conch or conch fritters—or make a group effort and order several versions for the table.

Da Conch Shack has become one of Providenciales’ best-known restaurants, so don’t expect to have the place to yourself. But it remains a fun way to spend an afternoon or evening by the water.

Omar’s Beach Hut

Omar’s is one of those places where the setting tells you what to order.

You’re in Five Cays, fishing boats are nearby, the sea is in front of you, and fresh seafood is all over the menu. This is not the moment to order something you could eat at home.

Go for fish, conch or lobster when it’s in season, add a cold drink, and settle in.

It’s colorful and casual, with none of the polished resort feel of Grace Bay. That’s exactly why you should make the trip.

Mango Reef

Mango Reef isn’t on a beach, but it’s still worth including for its waterfront setting at Turtle Cove Marina.

Dinner here has a completely different feel from Grace Bay. Boats replace beach umbrellas, and the marina becomes particularly pleasant once the heat of the afternoon starts to disappear.

The menu is broad enough for groups, with seafood naturally among the dishes worth considering.

If you’ve spent several evenings eating along Grace Bay, Turtle Cove makes a nice change of scenery.

Las Brisas

Technically, we’re bending the “beachfront” rule again. Once you see Chalk Sound, you’ll understand why.

Las Brisas overlooks the startling blue water of the sound, dotted with tiny limestone islands. It’s one of the most distinctive views on Providenciales and well worth building into a day exploring the southwest of the island.

Have lunch here before or after visiting nearby Sapodilla Bay or Taylor Bay and give yourself enough time to enjoy the scenery.

Grace Bay gets most of the photographs, but Chalk Sound can more than hold its own.

Grace Bay or Somewhere More Local?

If you’re staying around Grace Bay, you certainly won’t struggle to find somewhere good to eat beside the water.

Infiniti is the pick for a smarter evening, while Hemingway’s and Somewhere are much easier places to wander into during a beach day. The Deck works nicely for lunch, and Bay Bistro is a good choice when you want something relaxed at sunset.

But don’t eat every meal within walking distance of your hotel.

A trip to Blue Hills or Five Cays brings a completely different experience. Da Conch Shack, Omar’s and Bugaloo’s are less about polished resort dining and more about seafood, conch, music, local character and sitting close to the water.

Ideally, try both.

Some nights call for getting dressed up and booking a table overlooking Grace Bay. Others are better spent eating cracked conch with sandy feet and a cold beer somewhere in Five Cays. That’s what makes the island’s dining scene interesting. You can have both experiences within the same vacation—and both can come with the sea just a few feet away.

Try the smart restaurant. Try the beach shack. Order the conch. Stay for sunset. And whatever you do, don’t spend every evening eating inside.
