Whether you’re an avid sportsperson, an enthusiastic water-lover, or simply curious to try new adventure, Cayman has it all when it comes to sports and activities. There are, naturally, water sports a plenty, from snorkeling and diving, to boating, kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding, to name but a few water activities, and also a great selection of on-the-ground sports to play, such as tennis, golf and squash. Unload your mind and body with plenty of yoga spots, fitness classes and pilates too.

Down Under

For those who cannot get enough of the ocean, there are the obvious choices such as swimming and snorkeling, both of which are an absolute pleasure in our warm, clear waters. Head to places such as Cemetery Reef off the northerly end of Seven Mile Beach for some stunning coral formations and a plethora of undersea life, as well as Smith Cove in South Sound, with an equal abundance of both.

On The Surface

Stand up paddle boarding is a serene and lovely way to explore Cayman’s coastline while getting a great work out at the same time! Rent boards and paddles from a variety of places dotted around the island, from North Side to Seven Mile Beach.

Cayman is famous for its glorious Seven Mile Beach, its crystal clear waters an absolute joy to be in. There are plenty of resorts along this incredible stretch of beach that rent out kayaks, so get paddling! You can also rent kayaks at Rum Point in North Side, another excellent, calm spot in which to explore this particularly beautiful region of Grand Cayman.

Cycling and running are popular ways to keep fit in Cayman and they also give you the opportunity to see the sights that you might not experience behind the wheel of a car. Cycling is taken pretty seriously in Cayman as the island is a fantastic place in which to cycle, with flat topography and some lovely coastal routes making it a pleasure to explore by bike. The Cayman Islands Cycling Association, known as Cayman Cycling has spent more than 40 years developing the local cycling community and has helped to produce four Olympic Games participants (in ‘84, ‘88, ‘92, and ’96). For those runners who love to really test themselves, the Walkers Cayman Islands Marathon, half marathon, 4-person relay and the Milo kids’ fun run take place on the first Sunday in December every year. The full and half marathon course are AIMS-certified and the marathon is a Boston Marathon qualifying event.

The Cayman Islands Triathlon itself takes place in November annually and is a brilliant test of mind, body, and spirit.

Volleyball is a Must-Try

A popular sport in Cayman, beach volleyball is a great way to burn off some energy while enjoying glorious beach views! This is another sport played to a very high standard in Cayman.
