Simpson Bay, St Maarten – September 23, 2015 – Aqua Mania Adventures will be hosting a Pink Sunset Sail on October 1st, 2015. This one of a kind event will function not only as an awareness event, but also as a fundraiser. When the local community found out about this event, it went out of its way to support Aqua Mania Adventures by donating items for the raffle that is part of the event, or by buying tickets for the event. Proceeds will go to the Positive and Elektralyets Foundations to help continue their quest to raise Breast Cancer Awareness on the island of St. Maarten and other future projects and activities.

In order to guarantee the success of the event, the support was needed of local businesses. Aqua Mania Adventures reached out to many businesses for donations for the raffle and the support received was incredible. Due to this support people going out on the Pink Sunset Sail now have a chance to win fantastic prizes such as a smartphone and Beats headset by UTS, a weekend stay at the Summit Resort, a necklace from Splash Jewelers, several items by Keijzer Computer Systems, a weekend stay at Simpson Bay Resort, a dinner for 2 at Pineapple Petes, a night stay at Divi Little Bay Resort and gift certificates from Simpson Bay Pharmacy, Bamboo Bernies, Grand Marche, Temptation, TriSport, Sushiitto and the Good Life Spa.

The Pink Sunset Sail is the first event on St. Maarten’s official calendar for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The goal of the event is to generate awareness among the local community about this devastating disease that affects so many of us. The primary message is the importance of self-examination and how early detection can save lives. Aqua Mania Adventures decided to team up with the Positive Foundation and the Elektralyets Foundation to successfully get this message across.

Some companies decided to support the event in a different way, like Island Water World who is joining the Pink Sunset Sail with 13 female employees. They take this opportunity as a staff outing, where they will get to enjoy the beautiful coastal sail, open bar and snacks while wearing the unique pink t-shirts provided to them by Aqua Mania Adventures.

“It is amazing to see the entire community supporting our event. Whether it is by promoting it for us at their locations, by donating raffle items or by joining the actual event itself. I was thrilled to hear about Island Water World’s attendance. We are hoping to get even more local companies involved, as it is important to make Breast Cancer, or any type of cancer, discussable in our small community. What better way to accomplish that then by seeing everyone on the island supporting this event?!” said Michele Korteweg, from Aqua Mania Adventures.
