Finding a place where the whole family can have an enjoyable time is an important part of creating many happy family memories. Whether you’re looking for a casual beachfront eatery or a more upscale establishment, St Maarten / St Martin has something to suit every taste and budget. We have taken some of the guesswork out of the choices and shared our favourite family-friendly restaurants on the island that offer delicious cuisine and a welcoming atmosphere for both adults and children alike.
IZI Ristorante Italiano
IZI Ristorante Italiano serves a delightful selection of fresh pasta and sauces, well loved Italian comfort food, and famous Italian desserts. They have a kids menu for those under 12 which includes a soft drink or juice and a dessert with the meal.
Simpson Bay Resort
Simpson Bay Resort in Billy Folly Road has four places to choose from and all are kid-friendly, depending on how young your children are. La Patrona serves Mexicanstyle fare and they offer a kid’s menu with the usual favorites. Bovin Steak House is where top-class steaks reside and are perhaps better suited to older children. Replay shows all the important games, plus they have a large menu of snacks, burgers, pasta, and pizza. Across the road, there is Juliette’s Bistro with pizza, steaks, chicken, and seafood.
Ginger and Ginger ll
For sushi lovers, you can’t beat Ginger and Ginger ll. They have expanded their menu to include Peking Duck, grilled fish, chicken, and steak, plus they have a kid’s menu. Just a quick aside, Ginger ll in Porto Cupecoy also has a special doggie menu for the canine members of the family.
Topper’s
Topper’s is a kid’s paradise. Rows and rows of colorful gelato of every flavor imaginable line the gelato counter. Then there are the spaghetti and meatballs, sandwiches, burgers, and pasta dishes to keep the kids happy and American and Italian favorites for everyone else.
Tortuga
Tortuga is the perfect spot for watching the planes land and take off and is right on Maho Beach. Besides burgers and sandwiches, they have rib eye steak, local catch of the day, pasta dishes, a selection of pizzas.
SkipJack’s Seafood Grill
SkipJack’s Seafood Grill is right on the water and has a kid’s menu of fish and chips, burgers, chicken, and pasta. For everyone else, there is a delicious selection of fresh fish and seafood or a choice of tender steak or chicken entrées.
Big Cee’s Waterfront Dining
Try Big Cee’s Waterfront Dining in Porto Cupecoy for their signature lobster thermidor for big people and the kid’s menu of chicken fingers or wings, quesadillas, or pasta for little people. A scoop of ice cream comes with the kid’s meal.
Buccaneer Beach Bar
Buccaneer Beach Bar has a bouncy castle and playground on Kim Sha Beach. They offer free face painting on Fridays and the pizza oven gets fired up at 5pm. For the rest of the time, there are burgers, ribs, BBQ, and snacks.
Fat Tony’s Smokehouse Grill
Fat Tony’s Smokehouse Grill in Jordan Village serves exactly what you would imagine they would serve—BBQ in all different ways and from all corners of the United States. They serve great pizza as well.
Sand Bar
Sand Bar is set up in a food truck next to Sunset. They have a kid’s menu, a trampoline in the water, and a play area. Burgers, sandwiches, and grilled fish are on the menu too.
Sunset Beach Bar
Sunset Beach Bar on Maho Beach has burgers, BBQ, sandwiches, and pizza and the family can either enjoy them on the terrace and watch the planes preparing to land, or at the pool.
Taô Garden
Taô Garden in Jordan Village in Cupecoy serves the most delicious Thai food. They are quite happy to discuss the menu with you and can make non-spicy options for the youngsters.
Zee Best
Zee Best for anything with eggs, all day. Plus they serve crepes French-style, sweet or savory, and a delightful selection of freshly baked pastries. Their lunch menu features burgers and crispy chicken.
L’Auberge Gourmande
L’Auberge Gourmande in Grand Case is the epitome of fine dining, but they also cater to their younger guests. Their kid’s menu includes a soft drink or juice and two scoops of ice cream as a dessert to go with the sautéed chicken breast or boneless fish filet main.
RESTAURANTS FOR OLDER KIDS
Bistrot Caraibes
Bistrot Caraibes serves traditional French gourmet cuisine like foie gras, smoked duck breast, escargot and onion soup. Their signature dish is lobster thermidor, but they also serve meat and poultry dishes. You can choose your own lobster from the tank.
Ocean 82
Ocean 82 specializes in heavenly fish and seafood, but they also have succulent meat dishes, roasted duck breast, and stuffed chicken breast. Lobster comes out fresh from the tank.
La Villa
La Villa serves fine French cuisine like onion soup, foie gras, frog’s legs, escargot, tender beef filet, fresh fish and seafood, and duck breast. They have vegan and vegetarian options too.
