By Banita Sadhra on 23rd June, 2025
Get ready to dance, celebrate, and soak up the vibrant energy of the CayMAS Carnival 2025, taking place from June 28 to July 7 in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands. This highly anticipated annual event is a dazzling fusion of music, costume, culture, and Caribbean spirit and 2025 promises to be bigger and better than ever.
What to Expect
CayMAS is a full-scale carnival celebration, featuring everything from high-energy parades to family-friendly festivities. The carnival kicks off on June 28 with the Junior & Teen Parade at Camana Bay, offering a colorful, fun-filled experience for younger revelers. The Adult Road March, the highlight of the season, takes place on July 5, with masqueraders dancing through the streets from Memorial Avenue in George Town to the iconic Seven Mile Public Beach.
Costumes & Bands
Carnival wouldn’t be carnival without the iconic mas costumes. Revelers can join various mas bands, each offering unique, themed outfits featuring feathers, beads, sequins, and bold Caribbean colors. Adults flaunt elaborate and often daring designs, while kids and teens enjoy age-appropriate versions that are just as festive. Participation in a mas band usually includes event access, drinks, and support teams during the parade.
Music, Fetes & J’ouvert
The soundtrack of CayMAS is pure Caribbean: expect non-stop soca, calypso, reggae, and dancehall. Early birds can join the J’ouvert parties, starting before dawn and featuring paint, powder, mud, and high-octane dancing in the streets. Numerous fetes (parties) take place throughout carnival week, some are all-inclusive, with international DJs, open bars, and gourmet food. Post-parade beach parties keep the celebration going until sunset (and beyond).
Food & Drink
Carnival goers can indulge in authentic Caymanian cuisine served up by local vendors and party caterers. Popular bites include jerk chicken, conch fritters, cassava cake, and fried fish, all washed down with cold rum punch, beer, or fresh coconut water. It’s the perfect mix of fuel and flavor for a day (or week) of revelry.
