This year promises to be no exception. Carnival troupes will step out in full glory, strutting their stuff and proudly displaying their elaborate costumes to crowds gathered along both sides of the road.
The weather is expected to be hot and perfect for the occasion, and drink vendors will no doubt be doing brisk business throughout the day. By midmorning, the aroma of barbeque will fill the air as fires are lit and ribs and chicken begin making their way into the hands of hungry Carnival-goers. With the parade lasting all day, there will be no shortage of places to grab food or drinks—and if one runs out, another will quickly take its place.
As late afternoon settles over Front Street, the first revelers will begin to appear, dancing and jiggling their way down the road, feathers bobbing and sequins shimmering in the sun. Long before they come into view, the thunder of music will announce their arrival, building anticipation with every beat.

Cameras will flash constantly as spectators dart into the street to capture quick photos with dazzling performers—whether a radiant Carnival queen or a striking duo. Press photographers will weave skillfully through the crowds, chasing the perfect shot.
When the first truck reaches the viewing spots, the sheer power of the speakers will be felt in chests as much as heard in ears. One sound system will roll past, followed by another, each accompanied by troupes in increasingly fantastical costumes dancing in its wake. The procession will continue in this rhythm until the final troupe passes and the roar of music gradually softens.
Another successful Carnival is on the horizon. And for those not ready to call it a day, the celebration will continue with the party at the end of the parade.

If you are planning to be on the island for Carnival next year and haven’t experienced one yet, be warned. The parties and dancing often last until the wee hours for the week preceding and on the night of the main parade. Pace yourselves and stay hydrated.
The parade itself starts in the morning and ends in the late afternoon, so make sure you have a hat and plenty of water on hand if you are watching on a stretch of road where there are no stores or restaurants nearby.
Above all, have fun. See you at the Carnival!
