Vibrant town in the heart of Grand Cayman to offer free family activities
Camana Bay, Grand Cayman (May 29, 2013): Camana Bay on Grand Cayman has teamed up with the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism to launch Fountain Frenzy, a new complimentary kids summer activity being offered as part of the Cayman Islands’ “Only in Cayman” summer promotion. The promotion includes a fifth night free at participating accommodations, as well as an “Only in Cayman” savings card that offers visitors countless deals and discounts at local attractions, restaurants and watersports activities.
Fountain Frenzy is a fun, interactive experience celebrating Cayman heritage, culture and undersea life, while also cooling kids off in Camana Bay’s signature dancing fountains. The 11-week program will be offered every Monday and Wednesday from June 19 through August 28.
From 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., little ones ages 4-6 can participate in a variety of supervised arts and crafts that celebrate traditional Cayman culture and heritage in Gardenia Court. Children ages 7-14 are invited to join a chaperoned scavenger hunt throughout Camana Bay’s vibrant Town Centre. Featuring a host of interactive clues that will take young adventurers up Grand Cayman’s only Observation Tower to admire the structure’s 3 million tile mosaic of Cayman’s famous reefs, onto The Island’s palm-fringed shores for thatch rope making and solider crab racing and into one of the Town’s shaded courtyards for a lesson on conch blowing, Fountain Frenzy will engage, educate and entertain youngvisitors. While the kids are entertained, parents can explore the stores, restaurants, cafes and services at Camana Bay. Each Fountain Frenzy session will conclude at The Crescent Fountain with a birthday celebration for Sir Turtle, the national emblem of the Cayman Islands, who turns 50 in 2013.
Camana Bay’s iconic fountains, designed by Jim Garland, the founder of Los Angeles-based innovative water studio, Fluidity, are a great way for kids – and adults – to stay cool this summer. The Crescent Fountain offers a choreographed aquatic show, with bursts of water that reach heights of up to 30 feet, while further along The Paseo in Jasmine Court, interactive water jets playfully tease younger children. In contrast, the calming lull of gently cascading water in Gardenia, Canella and Cassia Court makes the perfect backdrop for an impromptu family picnic or a relaxing afternoon under the shade of native flora and fauna.
